DESCRIBE A ROUTINE YOU HAVE IN PLACE THAT HELPS YOU LIVE A HEALTHIER LIFE.
It is very important for me to sleep at least 8-9 hours. Then I feel energetic. I don’t have any special recipes for a healthy lifestyle (although I don’t drink alcohol or smoke). I believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. Avoiding unnecessary and unpleasant communication, activities, and society is the best way to feel good. Over the years I have become more and more introverted. I like silence around and tranquility.
WHICH FIELD OF STUDY—OUTSIDE OF MUSIC— INFLUENCES YOUR MUSIC-MAKING THE MOST?
All areas where creativity, beauty and art are present. These are attractive to me and can be a source of inspiration. I love reading books and writing down quotes and phrases I like from them. These can be different genres. My favorite writers are Archibald Cronin, Charlotte Bronte, Leo Tolstoy, Agatha Christie, and poetry of Ivan Franko. I like to admire beautiful views—it could be the interior of a house, a picturesque landscape in a park, or any other harmonious view. I really love the sea. Not for the beach, but to admire the horizon, listen to the surf. My hometown—Kyiv—is very beautiful. Walking around Kyiv is one of my favorite pastimes. Of course I love cinema. I like melodramas, dramas, films about the power of nature. I don’t like and don’t watch films about wars, cruelty and violence. A good soundtrack to a film is very important to me. Sometimes this is the only reason for me to watch a given film. Traveling is one of my greatest pleasures. How wonderful it is to see the sunrise from an airplane window!
WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION TO CREATE MUSIC?
Stage, audience, adrenaline—the best source of inspiration for me. Thanks to these emotions, any artist understands that difficult work and preparation are rewarded by these emotions. The piano on stage is very important. If it is good and meets your expectations, it is a special pleasure to perform. My favorite piano is a Steinway & Sons.
