Daria Rabotkina

PORTLAND, OR – Pianist Daria Rabotkina, an in-demand recitalist, concerto soloist, and educator who has performed on stages across three continents, will make her Portland debut in back-to-back recitals presented by Portland Piano International (PPI) at Lincoln Performance Hall, Portland State University, on March 25 and 26, 2023.

Ahead of her Lincoln Hall recitals, Rabotkina will also perform a preview recital at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts in Beaverton on March 23. This 60-minute performance, without intermission, offers audiences a sneak peek of the effortless artistry and captivating enthusiasm she'll display in her full-length recitals in Portland.

Acclaimed as "staggeringly gifted" (Boston Musical Intelligencer) and "a pianist full of fire and warmth" (Plain-Dealer), Rabotkina has received top prizes at a number of the piano world's most prestigious competitions, most notably the 2007 Concert Artists Guild International Competition.

Her concert calendar has taken her to major stages across three continents, including recitals at Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Kennedy Center, and New York's Weill Recital Hall and Merkin Concert Hall. As a concerto soloist, career engagements have included performances with the San Francisco and New World Symphonies, Kirov (Mariinsky) Orchestra, Moscow State Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony, Orquesta Sinfonica de Concepción, and Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, under the batons of Michael Tilson Thomas, Julian Kuerti, JoAnn Falletta, Benjamin Shwartz, and Giancarlo Guerrero.

An active recording artist, Rabotkina has released four albums on the CAG Records and MSR Classics labels. Her most recent recording, featuring humoresques by Dvořák, Reger, Rachmaninoff, and Schumann, received critical acclaim from American Record Guide and Fanfare magazine.

THE 2022 / 2023 SOLO PIANO SERIES

Curated by Vladimir Feltsman, PPI's 2022 / 2023 season of intimate piano recitals brings world-class artists to Portland for inspiring performances of treasured works and adventuresome new music.

Upcoming concerts this season include the following:

  • Roman Rabinovich (May 6 & 7)

  • Alexander Korsantia (June 3 & 4)

On curating PPI's new season, Mr. Feltsman commented: "When I was originally asked to curate this season for PPI [for the canceled 2020 / 2021 season], I agreed immediately because I saw this as an opportunity to introduce a new generation of pianists to a discriminating and supportive audience. Two years after their initial acquaintance with PPI, they are so excited to be coming finally to Portland.

"I'm very proud to have been asked to play this role with this fine organization, and I sincerely hope that my choices for the 2022/2023 season will bring us all delight, encouragement, and much needed reassurance in uncharted times."

Tickets for Ms. Rabotkina's Portland concerts on March 25 and 26 are available now at portlandpiano.org, where other details may be found — including the complete SOLO Piano Series season, programs, and subscription options. Tickets for The Reser recital on March 23 are available now at thereser.org.

PORTLAND PIANO INTERNATIONAL has presented more than 180 artists in recital and through outreach activities. Some of the greatest pianists in the world of music have played for Portland audiences because of this organization. While pianists have many opportunities to play the concerto repertoire, this is one of only a handful of recital series that remains devoted to the solo piano recital. Portland Piano International is a vital part of Portland’s quality cultural life and it has consistently garnered praise from both the local and national media, heralded a “consistently brilliant Piano Recital Series” (Willamette Week) and “one of this city’s musical treasures” (The Oregonian).
