“descending scales so uplifting”
"One of the most thoughtful and sensitive of British pianists" (The Times), Mishka Rushdie Momen marks her PPI debut with a program weaving keyboard music of the English Renaissance with personal, poignant works spanning three centuries.
From the jubilant sounds of church bells to a moving lament, the music of William Byrd evokes cinematic colors and intimate emotions that are mirrored in variations Mendelssohn penned to honor Beethoven after his death. And Rushdie Momen displays her refined, expressive playing in selections from Prokofiev's Visions fugitives — mesmerizing miniatures that hover between dreamscapes and reality — while Schubert's towering C Minor Sonata offers a journey of radiant hope and disquieting despair.

WHAT FIELD OF STUDY OUTSIDE OF MUSIC INFLUENCES YOUR MUSIC-MAKING THE MOST?
I see so many parallels between painting and sculpture and music. I love to recognize and compare colours in paintings to the musical colours I am trying to create.
DESCRIBE A ROUTINE YOU HAVE THAT HELPS YOU LIVE A HEALTHIER LIFE.
I go for daily walks with my dog in a beautiful, ancient woodland near my house. I like to think about how the land binds us to history and, like great art, enables us to reach across the centuries to people who led very different lives, and find essential shared truths and meaning.
