Italian pianist Gabriele Strata is a young musician to keep an eye on for the foreseeable future.
He recently won First Prize at the XXXV Premio Venezia, the prestigious Italian piano competition where he was awarded the Plaque of the President of the Italian Republic and the Medal of the Italian Senate. He also recently received his Master of Music degree from Yale School of Music at age 19. Not one to slow down, he is currently pursuing a Master of Musical Arts degree at the Yale School of Music under the guidance of Professor Boris Berman while traveling all over the United States and abroad to perform in prestigious concert halls.
A few months ago, Gabriele visited Fazioli Pianos in Italy to test, perform, and record on these amazing instruments. He performed Bartok’s Out of Doors Suite Sz. 81 during a live concert at the Fazioli Concert Hall. Watch the live performance now.
Hailed as “a brilliant talent with extraordinary sensitivity and superb technique,” we can’t wait to have him perform at our latest edition of A Twilight Soirée on SAT / SEP 14 at Duckridge Farms, the beautiful home of Jeffrey Miller and Casselle Latourette.
This year’s fundraiser is titled Le Cirque au Château and will feature aerial artists, fire dancers, and stilt walkers. Carl Halvorson, esteemed tenor and professor, will be the evening’s ringmaster / emcee. Duckridge features a beautiful French-inspired chateau surrounded by charming vistas and garden “rooms.” Prepare for a romantic evening that will delight the senses.
Gabriele will also be performing in Cannon Beach at 7pm on Friday, September 13 at the Cannon Beach Community Church; and in Portland on Sunday, September 15 at 4pm at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church.
