We are excited for our next program with Chamber Music Northwest on SUN / FEB 24, when two fantastic concert pianists, Shai Wosner and Orion Weiss, grace us with their synergistic style at Temple Beth Israel.
This isn’t the first collaboration for Wosner and Weiss. In 2017, the pianists had a chat titled “Pianists in the Car Getting Coffee” for Sirius XM Symphony Hall. This was a spoof off of Jerry Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”, but our two artists weren’t in a car nor had coffee! However, what they did have was a great conversation.
“What does a pianist do when they get up in the morning?” Shai Wosner asks with a little chuckle.
“That’s a great question,” Orion Weiss responds.
“I ask myself that every morning,” Shai quips back.
Orion responds: “A pianist’s first duty is to their art. There is a big asterisk there …”
We can hear from their conversation a funny, back-and-forth banter about living the classical life while living a basic life as piano music plays in the background.
“There is an art to being an artist,” Shai says.
The duo goes on to talk about routine, practice, and musical choice.
Watch the full video to see their personalities shine. We can’t wait to see this fun and relaxing combination brought to stage to lighten up our midwinter blues!
