Winner of the Audience Award and finalist at the 15th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Young Steinway Artist Rachel Cheung comes to Portland DEC 1 / 2. As we get ready for her highly-sophisticated artistry (at only 27 years old), we found this interview from Hong Kong’s RTHK The Works show.
Recounting her winning experience at the Cliburn, she later plays on-air Debussy’s “Ce qu'a vu le vent d'Ouest” (“What the west wind saw”) from his Préludes Book I.
For her Portland appearance, she plays Mozart, Schumann, Janáček, Schubert, Liszt, Franck/Bauer, and Chopin. View the full program and grab tickets while you’re at it!
