A cousin of Sviatoslav Richter, Walter Moskalew was born in 1937 in Zhitomir, Ukraine (then USSR). He and his family evacuated to Germany in 1943 and Walter emigrated to the United States in 1952.
Walter has a B.A. in Classics (Latin) from Harvard and a M.A.T. in Latin from the Harvard School of Education. He was a recipient of a DAAD Grant from the Free University in Berlin and got his Ph.D. in Classical Philology from Yale University.
He has taught Classics at Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT), University of Pittsburgh, Vassar College, and most recently at Ball State University. Walter is now retired.
